Chapter 1

Problem

The project required a comprehensive visual and functional overhaul to align the application with modern design standards and rigorous accessibility requirements. I aimed to adapt the interface for seamless performance on both iOS and Android platforms while ensuring the visual language remained strictly consistent with the client’s branding. Additionally, the scope involved redesigning the information architecture to simplify navigation and implementing critical functionalities that were previously missing, ultimately resolving key usability friction points.

Retrospective

A very cool project that seemed easy at first glance, but contained many elements that had to be taken into account and incorporated into the whole. It was good to use the new "Play" tool, which allowed me to gain new skills and deliver the "wow" factor to the client.

A short period of time, such as two weeks, imposes certain constraints on the final output.

Lessons

  • Play is a great tool for designing native iOS applications, and it is worth keeping in mind for this type of project.

  • A prototype can significantly improve the quality of a project in the eyes of the client, distinguishing it from other projects that are often only lo-fi.

  • The project that is best in the eyes of the client does not always win the tender :)

Tradeoffs

  • Sacrificing wireframing to save time.

  • Abandoning preliminary design in Figmia to immediately build a rich prototype in "Play."
